Private schools closed until October 1

Montgomery County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles issued a press release July 31 prohibiting all private schools in the area from re-opening for in-person instruction until October 1.

The directive is effective immediately. Anyone who violates the order will be guilty of a misdemeanor and be charged up to a year in prison, a fine not more than $5,000, or both.

The decision will be re-evaluated prior to October 1.

Montgomery County Public Schools has already decided to continue with virtual instruction until January 2021.
