MoCo is Home to the Longest Set of Single-Span Escalators in the Western Hemisphere

Anyone who has had to walk up any of the escalators in the DC Metro Area would tell you that one of the stations definitely has the longest escalator they’ve experienced, but did you know that Wheaton Metro Station features the longest set of single-span escalators in the entire Western Hemisphere?

The escalator spans 230 feet, 18 feet longer than the second longest escalator on the Metro (Bethesda). Woodley Park and Medical Center are the only other two that come in longer than 200 feet with Rosslyn, both Dupont stations, and Tenleytown coming in after them.
