Bark Social in Pike & Rose Opens This Weekend!

Bark Social in Pike & Rose Opens This Weekend!

We had a chance to check out Bark Social, one of the first “dog bars” in the Mid-Atlantic region, before their grand opening. After months of preparing, this Saturday will be their first day open to the public.

Bark Social is located in Pike & Rose adjacent to Rose Park and next to Julii and Jinya. The venue consists of a 25,000 square foot dog park plus a 2,500 square foot climate controlled clubhouse as well as a bar/cafe and gift shop. The dog park is off-leash and monitored by trained professionals at all times. There is a separate area for small dogs as well!

Their outdoor area is spacious– it has ample, physically distanced seating for humans and lots of room for dogs to play around. They have a covered outdoor patio with heating, an uncovered area, an indoor clubhouse, and they also brought back the Pike & Rose beach on their premises due to popular request.

Members can look forward to accessing amenities such as TV and WiFi in their clubhouse, a dog treat bar, dog wash stations (coming soon), as well as a shop featuring locally made products. Bark Social plans to offer events such as dog yoga, Yappy hours, singles nights, dog birthday parties, and even a Halloween dog costume contest.

In addition to the previously mentioned amenities, they have a menu full of coffee drinks, non-coffee lattes, hot chocolates, breakfast offerings, pretzels, pizza from Union Kitchen, empanadas from DC Empanadas, wines, and a unique self-serve beer tap area.

We spoke with founders Luke and Jeff today– they shared that one of their main values at Bark Social is to always prioritize local. You can see that reflected in everything from their menu (they plan to have 10 MoCo beers on tap at all times) to their merch in their gift shop– they pointed out leashes made in Gaithersburg, shirts from Baltimore, and other shirts that come with a donation to local animal welfare organizations with every purchase.

Bark Social offers Daily, Monthly, and Annual memberships and offers discounts to the dogs of frontline workers, teachers, federal government employees, and active duty military– humans are always free!
