Police in Gaithersburg Searching for Man Who Struck Victim with Vehicle in Rio/Washingtonian Center Parking Garage

Per the City of Gaithersburg:

Detectives are investigating an assault that occurred in a parking garage on June 4. Suspect’s vehicle is a white Kia.

Detectives from the Gaithersburg Police Department – Investigative Section are continuing to investigate an assault involving a vehicle that occurred in the parking garage at the Rio Washingtonian Center located at 9811 Washingtonian Boulevard.

On Friday, June 4, 2021, at approximately 8 p.m., officers from the Gaithersburg Police responded to the 4th floor of the parking garage at the Rio Washingtonian Center located at 9811 Washingtonian Boulevard for the report of an assault. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was in his vehicle, backing up to allow another vehicle to exit a parking space, when he backed into the suspect’s vehicle. At that time, both drivers exited their vehicles. A passenger also exited from the suspect’s vehicle. The driver & passenger from the struck vehicle, turned suspects, then physically assaulted the victim by knocking him to the ground. The suspects then continued to physically assault the victim by striking him in the head. The suspects then got back into their vehicle, a white Kia, and struck the victim with their vehicle as they drove away. Both suspects were described as black males, 16-22 years of age, short, with slim builds. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
