Second Arrest Made in Wheaton Homicide

Per MCPD:

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged a second person in the death of Marvin Alexander Mendoza.

17-year-old Randy Aaron Powell has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.

Mendoza was shot and killed on Tuesday, August 10 in the 2000 block of Blueridge Ave. in Wheaton.

19-year-old Erik Aguilar of Silver Spring was arrested and charged with first-degree murder on Thursday, August 12 in connection with the murder of Mendoza.

This remains an active and ongoing homicide investigation and no further details can be confirmed at this time.
