Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 12-year-old from Wheaton.

Leah Parham was last seen on Friday, April 28, 2023, at approximately 12 p.m., at Sligo Middle School in the 1400 block of Dennis Ave.  Parham is approximately 5-feet, 3-inches tall and weighs 145 pounds. She has black hair with gold strains and dark brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white short sleeved shirt that says “Clueless” and blue/pink pajama pants with white stars.  Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged 21-year-old, Chris Perez, 20-year-old, George Clarence Molina of Gaithersburg, and 25-year-old, Jonathan Schwegler of Germantown with an armed robbery that occurred on Friday, April 14, 2023, at a 7-Eleven in the 15900 block of Shady Grove Road.

The investigation by detectives has revealed that Molina and Perez entered the 7-Eleven at approximately 3 a.m. Perez approached the employee at the counter and demanded he open the cash register. As the employee attempted to open the drawer, Perez struck him in the head with a handgun. Perez then stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the drawer and left the store with Molina, who had been acting as a lookout.  Molina and Perez drove away in a red Toyota, driven by Schwegler.

Additionally, a motorcycle was observed arriving to and leaving the scene with the red Toyota. Detectives have released surveillance images of the person of interest and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.

Through the investigation, detectives identified Perez, Molina and Schwegler as suspects.

Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Perez, Molina and Schwegler, charging them with armed robbery, first-degree assault and firearm related charges.  All three suspects have been arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where they are currently being held without bond.

Alvarez was last seen on Monday, April 24, 2023, at approximately 11 p.m., in the 9800 Dockside Ter.

Alvarez is approximately 5-feet, 8-inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black sweater, grey jeans and black and white sneakers. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

Montgomery County Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a collision involving a Montgomery County Public Schools bus on Monday, April 24, around 9:30am in the 13000 block of Old Columbia Pike in Fairland.

Four children (initially reported as five) and the driver were on the bus at the time of the collision. According to MCPD, “one child was extricated from the bus, but everyone was transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries” The ages of the children have not yet been released. According to a report, the bus was traveling to Fairland Elementary School.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. We will post an update when additional information is available.

10am Update: Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a school bus in the 13000 block of Old Columbia Pike in Fairland on Monday, April 24th. According to police, “MCPD is on scene of a single vehicle collision involving a school bus. Five children, one adult transported, non-life-threatening injuries. The 13000 block of Old Columbia Pike is shut down.” We will post an update when additional information is available.

Montgomery County Police responded to a shooting in White Oak on Sunday, April 23. According to MCPD, “the call for a shooting was received at approximately 10:01 a.m. 3rd District officers responded to the 11300 block of Lockwood Dr. and located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No suspect is in custody at this time. At this time, there is no reason to believe there is a threat to the public.

Public safety reporter Cordell Pugh tweeted that that officers applied a tourniquet to the victim prior to EMS’ arrival. We will post an update when addition information is available.

Update: Jefferson Amaya has been located safe and unharmed. 
Per MCPD: Detectives form the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Jefferson Amaya, a missing 13-year-old from Germantown.  Amaya was last seen on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at approximately 7 a.m., on Sweetgum Circle.

Amaya is approximately 6-feet tall and weighs 200 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. It is unknown what clothing Amaya was last seen wearing. Police and family are concerned for his welfare.

An auto theft suspect is in custody this morning after a FOX 5 helicopter alerted Montgomery County Police of the suspect’s location.  According to MCPD, “At approximately 5:55 a.m., 2nd District officers were dispatched to Rolling Road in Chevy Chase. Neighbors witnessed suspicious vehicles and people checking (pulling on the handle of) car doors.

A 2D officer observed three suspicious vehicles on Leland and Woodbine Streets, and as the officer followed, all three vehicles drove off.  The vehicles, a black Kia, Toyota Highlander and silver Range/Land Rover stopped at Beach and East West Highway. A brief pursuit was initiated, and during that pursuit, the black Kia drove over a median, causing the tires to blow out.

All three cars continued on 495, and the pursuit was called off at Georgia Avenue.  During this time, a Fox 5 news helicopter was following the pursuit and observed the driver of the Kia exit the disabled vehicle and walk to a bus stop at University and New Hampshire Avenues, where the suspect boarded a Metro bus.

The Fox 5 helicopter followed the bus, and called the Montgomery County Emergency Communications Center, with the location of the bus and possible suspect.

Officers located and stopped the bus at the Wheaton Metro station, and the adult male suspect was taken into custody.  The drivers and occupants of the other vehicles remain outstanding.  The Kia and Toyota Highlander were reported stolen out of Chevy Chase.  More information will be released as it becomes available.”

Harmonee Sykes was last seen on Monday, April 17, 2023, at approximately 7 a.m., leaving her residence in the 19600 block of Scenery Drive in Germantown. Harmonee is approximately 5-feet, 9-inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. She has dark brown eyes and dark brown hair. She was last seen wearing a green sweater, blue jeans and black shoes.  Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating a shooting that occurred on April 13, 2023, in the 14300 block of Fairdale Road. At approximately 10:13 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the location and located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The preliminary investigation has determined that unknown suspects fired multiple shots into a residence, striking the victim in the residence in the abdomen. The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Detectives have determined that a blue Tesla was observed leaving the scene shortly after the shooting.

Detectives are urging anyone with information regarding this shooting or the suspect(s) to call the 3rd District Investigative Section at (240) 773- 6800 or Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free 10866-411-TIPS (8477). Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 17-year-old from Silver Spring.     James Saad was last seen on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at approximately 9:20 p.m., in the 13600 Colgate Way in Silver Spring.

James is approximately 6-feet tall and weighs 190 pounds. He has dark colored eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and brown shorts.  Police and family are concerned for his welfare.
