
Takoma Park Police has announced that following a thorough investigation of a bomb threat at a drag event that was being held at Motorkat on the 6900 block of Laurel Avenue, the restaurant was cleared and surrounding areas have been reopened to the public.

Earlier this year we let you know that Planet Fitness announced it will be opening new locations at 6881 New Hampshire Ave. in Takoma Park (now open) and 2201 Randolph Rd. in Wheaton (Glenmont). The Takoma Park location opened a few weeks back, according to a representative we spoke with this morning, with Planet Fitness Wheaton (Glenmont) coming soon. which will be next to the existing Lidl, has announced its opening date.

Per the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Maryland– U.S. District Judge Lydia K. Griggsby sentenced William Reyes Garcia, a/k/a “Will,” age 33, of Silver Spring, Maryland, yesterday to 15 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute cocaine, for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, as well as for being a felon in possession of ammunition.

Per the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Maryland: “Oscar Efrain Zavala Urrea, age 23, an El Salvadoran national residing in Silver Spring, Maryland, pleaded guilty to his participation in a racketeering conspiracy, including a murder, related to his activities as part of the MS-13 gang.
