Maryland State Police are seeking public assistance as investigators work to identify a man who reportedly fled the scene of a traffic crash that occurred in Montgomery County Friday afternoon.

Takoma Park Police has announced that following a thorough investigation of a bomb threat at a drag event that was being held at Motorkat on the 6900 block of Laurel Avenue, the restaurant was cleared and surrounding areas have been reopened to the public.

Per the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Maryland– U.S. District Judge Lydia K. Griggsby sentenced William Reyes Garcia, a/k/a “Will,” age 33, of Silver Spring, Maryland, yesterday to 15 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute cocaine, for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, as well as for being a felon in possession of ammunition.

A menorah outside of Chabad of Olney, a synagogue located at 17320 Georgia Avenue, was vandalized on Friday afternoon just minutes before the start of Hannukah, according to a social media post by Chabad of Olney co-director Devorah Stolik.
Per the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Maryland: “Oscar Efrain Zavala Urrea, age 23, an El Salvadoran national residing in Silver Spring, Maryland, pleaded guilty to his participation in a racketeering conspiracy, including a murder, related to his activities as part of the MS-13 gang.
Per MCPD: “The death of a 66-year-old disabled man, who was found dead inside of a Silver Spring apartment, has been ruled a homicide.
Per MCPD: “Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 2nd District Patrol Services Bureau are investigating two pickpocketing cases that occurred in Bethesda. Officers have released photographs of the suspects and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them. (more…)

A warning has been sent out by Takoma Park Police regarding skimming fraud devices after a credit card skimming device was recently located in Takoma Park.
Per MCPD: “Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects who attempted an armed carjacking on December 1, 2023, in the 13600 block of Middlevale Lane in Silver Spring.”
