The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), has called on state and federal law enforcement authorities – including the FBI – to investigate a reported bomb threat targeting a Montgomery County, Maryland mosque as a hate crime.

The Montgomery County Police Department recently launched its Drone as First Responder (DFR) Pilot Program to provide air support to 911 or police generated calls for service in a safe, responsible, and transparent manner. The program has already made a difference, according to two occurrences shared by County Executive Marc Elrich.
On December 2, at approximately 12:32 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the area of Eastern Avenue and Piney Branch Road for an armed robbery that had just occurred.
According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, “Today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, before the Honorable Debra Dwyer, a jury convicted defendant, Andre R. Moore, 24, of Silver Spring, on charges of first-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a crime of violence for the shooting death of 40-year-old Michael Sutton. Per MCPD: “Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating a robbery of a person that occurred on Saturday, November 11, 2023, inside of the 7-Eleven in the 8400 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring. Detectives have released surveillance photos of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him. (more…)

Last week we reported that Montgomery County Police responded to an attempted carjacking on Sunday, November 26, at approximately 11:55pm. FOX5’s Stephanie Ramirez reported that the victim involved was Myo Maung, who owns Zao Stamina Ramen at 7345 Wisconsin Ave, in Bethesda. On Friday, MCPD issued the following press release with additional information about the incident:
