Update on Domestic Situation That Led to Brief Lockdown At The Holton Arms School Yesterday

Yesterday at approximately 11am, Montgomery County Police responded to a “domestic related event” at the Holton Arms School at 7303 River Rd. in Bethesda. The private school was briefly placed on lockdown while the situation was handled by police.
In a letter sent to the Holton Arms community, school officials shared some additional details about what occurred. Per the e-mail, an individual who works for one of the school’s contractors became engaged in a domestic dispute with her partner outside the school’s front door yesterday morning.
The school’s security personnel was able to get the contracted individual safely inside the building (the doors were already locked) and call 911. They also put the school on lockdown and remained at the doors until the police and emergency personnel arrived. The lockdown remained in place while the police defused the situation, assessed the individuals involved in the dispute. Police also interviewed school staff.
The contracted employee eventually left in an ambulance for the hospital to ensure that she received a medical evaluation. The lockdown was lifted once all police and other emergency personnel left. School officials had students meet by division so that Division Directors could share information and talk to students as well as make sure that students knew that counselors were available for anyone who wanted to talk to them. Classes then resumed.
School officials shared that “at no time was anyone, students or adults, in danger.”
