Germantown: Amazon 4 Star Signage Up at Upcoming Location

3/2/22 Update: Amazon has announced it will be closing all 68 of its retail stores, including Amazon Books and Amazon 4 Star locations.

Back in July we let you know of a potential Amazon location coming to Germantown. At that point it was unclear whether it would be an Amazon 4 Star or an Amazon Bookstore.

Signage is now up (h/t to reader Joanna Woessner) for an Amazon 4 Star that has been confirmed by Amazon as coming to 20944 Frederick Road in the Neelsville Village Center next to Ulta in the location that was formerly home to JoS. A. Bank.

Construction continues and an opening timeframe has not yet been provided.

What is Amazon 4 Star?

Everything for sale at Amazon 4 Star is rated 4 stars and above, is a top seller, or is new and trending on Amazon.com. The range of products at the store includes books, consumer electronics, toys, games, homewares, and more, but also reflects what Amazon customers are buying online. The ‘Most Wished For’ section showcases the most popular products from customers’ wish lists.

The store uses digital price tags to ensure the prices are the same in-store and online. Shoppers do not have to have an Amazon account to shop at that store or to receive online pricing. Customers can also pick up any items they’ve ordered online as well as return items without the hassle of packaging/labels.

This will be the second Montgomery County location for Amazon 4 Star, which made its debut in New York in 2018 and now has over 30 locations nationwide. The other location is located on the lower level of Montgomery Mall, near Nordstrom.
