Artists of All Ages Can Enter Gaithersburg’s Storm Drain Art Contest

Per the City of Gaithersburg:

The Gaithersburg Parks, Arts and Recreation Corporation Art Alliance and the City of Gaithersburg’s Stormwater Management Program have joined to create a contest for artists of all ages to submit designs for its Storm Drain Art Project contest. The contest has a long-range goal of protecting the Chesapeake Bay watershed by asking people to help limit things that go into storm drains and eventually follow the local waterways that lead to the Bay. The entry deadline is Tuesday, March 22 (World Water Day).

Members from the local arts community will review the submissions and choose designs to be painted on storm drain covers at select locations in the City of Gaithersburg. The selected designs may also be used on banners, posters, coloring books, other educational materials and on social media.

Selections of winning designs will be announced on Earth Day, April 22. Details of the contest, and an online submission form, can be found here. All entries must be submitted electronically or be postmarked by March 22.
