Police Respond to Walt Whitman High School After Student Brings Airsoft Gun to School

Montgomery County Police responded to a report of a student with a facsimile weapon (BB gun) around 10:40am this morning at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda.

Police were able to secure the weapon and no injuries were reported.

Walt Whitman High School released the following statement:

Serious Incident involving Facsimile Weapon

Dear Walt Whitman High School Community Members,

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that a student at Walt Whitman High School was in possession of an Airsoft BB gun in school today, Friday, April 8, 2022.  School administration was alerted by a fellow Whitman student to the potential of another student at school in possession of the BB gun. Our administrative and security teams immediately took action and in partnership with the Montgomery County Police Department worked to secure the BB gun and ensure that our students, staff, and community members remained safe.
