MoCo’s Cheer Prodigy All Stars Royal Elite Advance to Cheerleading Nationals

Cheer Prodigy All-Stars Elite Junior 1 team, Royal Elite, located in Gaithersburg, represented Montgomery County on the nation’s biggest stage on May 6, 2022 at the Varsity D2 Summit competition, held at ESPN’s World Wide of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

The team, composed of 17 cheerleaders, entered the competition as a wild card selection, meaning they needed to finish in the top five among the 23 teams competing. Cheer Prodigy’s Royal Elite team finished third, advancing them to the national finals, which will be held on Sunday, May 8. The team is the only program from Montgomery County to advance to the finals at this weekend’s D2 Summit. The Cheer Prodigy Gym has been in existence for four years and is owned and led by Amber Smoot.

Royal Elite will compete in Sunday’s finals against 14 of the nation’s best teams, hoping to bring a national championship back to Montgomery County.
