WalletHub compared more than 290 of the largest cities based on 21 key metrics, ranging from the performance level of each city’s NBA and NCAA Division 1 basketball teams to ticket prices to stadium accessibility.
Washington D.C. came in 8th in the country in WalletHub’s “2022’s Best & Worst Cities for Basketball Fans” list. Nearby College Park, MD in Prince George’s County (the home of the University of Maryland), came in 7th on the “Small City” list.
As a D.C. suburb, Montgomery County fans can cheer on professional teams like the Washington Wizards of the NBA or the currently undefeated Washington Mystics of the WNBA. They can also root for one of many local NCAA Basketball programs in the area, if you’re a sports fan who supports teams that represent the area you live in.
