Five MoCo Middle School Student-Athletes From Germantown Wrestling Have Made the Maryland National Wrestling Team

Five Montgomery County middle school student-athletes (listed below) from Germantown Wrestling have made the Maryland National Wrestling team and are currently traveling to Indianapolis Indiana for 14U nationals. All five team members live in Montgomery County, go to school in Montgomery County, and will be attending high schools in Montgomery County in 2022 or 2023.

Germantown Wrestling’s head coach Craig staton, who is also the principal of Julius West Middle school tells us that student-athletes “are all excellent kids, aside from wrestling, and we are really proud that they will be representing Germantown Wrestling Club on the national level.”

Per Coach Staton:

AJ Lopez, an 8th grader, has stepped up his game in the last two years to become one of the best upper weight wrestlers in the state. He is made for big moments and performs his best on the biggest stage.

George Tate, an 8th grader, is aggressive with great hips and has established himself as a serious upper body thrower. He has a constant motor and wrestles every match until the final whistle.

Noah Tucker, 7th grader, is the unquestioned team captain and face of Germantown Wrestling Club. His high wrestling IQ, passion for the sport and willingness to win makes him a formidable opponent.

Salah Tsarni, the talented 7th grader, possesses all the skills of a great wrestler. His resume of accomplishments is extensive and shows flashes of an elite high school/college wrestler at a young age.

Anthony Juarez, a 6th grader, has improved beyond his years and is determined to be a dominant wrestler. He is consistent, coachable and has all the ingredients of an outstanding wrestler.
