Washington Gas Project – Teachers Way and East Diamond Ave. (Gaithersburg)

Per the City of Gaithersburg: Part of the Washington Gas STRIDE program will include the installation of 2,952 feet of new gas line, replacement of 5 service connections and transferring of 21 service connections. The project area is along E. Diamond Ave from N. Summit Ave to Girard Street, as well as Teachers Way from N. Summit Ave to Girard Street. This project is scheduled to start in July of 2022.

About the STRIDE Program, which was approved in May 2014: Major Washington Gas projects taking place either within the City, or that will affect City residents. Please contact the Washington Gas Project Managers listed for each project for further information or inquiries. In May of 2014, the Maryland Public Service Commission approved Washington Gas’ Strategic Infrastructure Development and Enhancement Plan (STRIDE) and Associated Cost Recovery Mechanism. The STRIDE program allows Washington Gas to accelerate replacement of targeted pipes for safety and environmental reasons throughout Maryland.

Impact to gas service will be minimal, but some disruption may occur. Washington Gas will provide a community letter to impacted residents. In the event of a gas emergency please contact the Washington Gas Emergency Call line at 844-927-4427. Temporary parking restrictions may be needed and Washington Gas will provide 48 hour advance notice of any such restrictions or changes in work hours. Washington Gas will restore sidewalks, roadways and landscaping back to their original condition.
