Beyond MoCo: Multiple Fires at RFK Stadium in DC on Tuesday

DC Fire crews were called to the scene of smoke coming from RFK stadium at 2400 Capitol Street in NE DC at approximately 5:20pm. Upon arrival, crews located “several fires” in below grade levels of the stadium and immediately worked to extinguish the fires and vent smoke, according to the DC Fire and EMS Twitter account.

Within two hours, DC Fire confirmed that the incident was under control with all fires located and extinguished and no injuries reported. DC Fire and EMS Chief John A. Donnelly Sr. briefed the media and reported that two fires were located and extinguished by crews and that investigators were working to determine the cause and origin of the fires.
