The Copper Canyon Grill at 928 Ellsworth Dr in Silver Spring officially reopened on Tuesday, October 18. A kitchen fire closed the location back on July 12. In addition to the $1 million in repairs and renovations that were just completed, the restaurant has announced plans for future upgrades to its bar and the addition of a sushi station and a chef’s table. Copper Canyon has an additional MoCo location in Gaithersburg (Rio) and it’s sister restaurant the Stanford Grill has a location in Rockville.
Per Copper Canyon: The Copper Canyon Grill in Silver Spring is celebrating its Grand Reopening on Tuesday, October 18th, just in time for the holidays. Copper Canyon Grill’s legacy as one of the more successful restaurants in Downtown Silver Spring Shopping Center will continue on. The restaurant was temporarily closed for repairs due to a fire that occurred in an exhaust shaft in July. Although there was very little damage to the restaurant, the owners decided to take extra time and measures to ensure that all the related systems were reengineered and rebuilt within current building codes. The company’s Director of Operations, Erick Cooper, stated that “the future safety of our guests and employees was too important to hurry through this process”.
The beloved downtown restaurant was already undergoing general renovations, and the shut-down allowed for some of those projects to be completed at a quicker pace than expected. In total, over $1 million in renovations were completed. A newly renovated exterior and foyer welcomes guests into a more contemporary environment. The restaurant’s ability to accept and serve private parties has also been significantly improved as a result of these renovations. Those rooms are now available to reserve for both corporate and personal gatherings throughout the holiday season.
Future renovations to the bar and the addition of a sushi station, and chef’s table will be underway soon. The Silver Spring location will once again be open on Thanksgiving this year, but it also allows for a catered Copper Canyon Grill holiday meal to be picked up ahead of time. The Silver Spring Copper Canyon Grill, which employs 80 people, is owned and operated by Blueridge Restaurant Group. Blueridge is one of the largest local independent restaurant companies, and owns and operates 7 restaurants in Maryland.
