According to a press release from United States Attorney for the District of Maryland, Shanta Johnson, age 44, of Germantown, Maryland, pleaded guilty yesterday to aiding in the preparation of false tax returns. The full press release can be seen below:

Kisco Senior Living, which is currently being constructed next to Life Time in Gaithersburg, and joint venture partners Welltower® (NYSE: WELL) & SHA Capital Partners have announced a donation of $50,000 to the City of Gaithersburg’s Benjamin Gaither Center. The Center will serve residents of Gaithersburg & the surrounding community who are 55 years of age & older, will utilize the donation for facility improvements & an expansion of culturally enriching programs.

Hip Flask, the rooftop bar that’s inside of The Marriott Bethesda Downtown at Marriott HQ, is now open. Hip Flask serves small plates and craft cocktails and is located at 7707 Woodmont Ave in Bethesda. The new hotel also features a 360 degree lobby bar. Seventh State, the hotel’s restaurant, which includes a built-in Italian wood oven and indoor/outdoor seating opened earlier this year.

Comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked while he was performing at a show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, according to many witnesses reports on social media and a video showing a man attempting to tackle Chappelle (seen below). According to multiple reports, the man was allegedly armed with a gun and a knife and was removed from the stage by security prior to being taken away from the stadium on a gurney.
Chapelle, who grew up in Silver Spring and attended Woodlin Elementary School before going to Duke Ellington School of the Arts in DC, appeared uninjured and continued with the show.
Metro last week announced new safety initiatives to engage the community, target enforcement efforts and increase police visibility on buses, trains and in stations.

Montgomery Parks will celebrate the reopening of Edith Throckmorton Neighborhood Park(opens in a new tab) on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 11 a.m. The rain date is May 14, 2022, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The celebration of the park renovation is free and open to the public and will include a brief speaking program, ribbon-cutting ceremony, and light refreshments.
