Gaithersburg: Nominations Sought for 2023 Environmental Awards

The Mayor & City Council and the Environmental Affairs Committee (EAC) invite you to participate in the Environmental Awards Program. Through the awards, the City looks to recognize & show appreciation for those who give back to the environment & encourage others to get involved.

Eligibility

The EAC awards those who demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship in one of three categories:

  • Achievement Awards are given to individuals & organizations, based within City limits or having at least 10% of their students/members there, that began a new initiative in 2022 to improve the environment in Gaithersburg.
  • Appreciation Awards are given to individuals and organizations, based within City limits or having at least 10% of their students/members there, that continued in 2022 a program that improves the environment in Gaithersburg & was begun in a prior year.
  • Green Friends of Gaithersburg awards are given to individuals and organizations that created environmental benefits for Gaithersburg & its residents despite not having their primary location or 10% of their students/members in the City.

Submission & Selection

Early submission is encouraged. The deadline is 4 p.m. on March 10, 2023. The EAC will evaluate the applications based upon program effectiveness, innovation & endurance.

Award Ceremony

The Committee is excited to welcome back the Environmental Award Winners Ceremony in 2023, more details about our ceremony will come soon. Our 2023 winners will also be celebrated on social media.
