Virtual Meeting on the Tuckerman Lane Road Diet Pilot to be Held Wednesday, Feb. 15

Per MCDOT: Community members are invited to attend a virtual meeting on the one-year Tuckerman Lane Road Diet Pilot program on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 3:30 to 4:40 p.m. via Teams. The proposed pilot will reduce the roadway from four to two lanes, with a single lane in each direction between Old Georgetown Road and MD 355/Rockville Pike.

If the proposed pilot project is implemented, a determination will be made in one year to remove the road diet or make it permanent.

The proposed road diet aims to increase safety, in line with the County’s Vision Zero program, by shortening the pedestrian and bicycle crossing at the Bethesda Trolley Trail and slowing vehicular speeds along a 1.17-mile portion of Tuckerman Lane. Tuckerman Lane, in its entirety, runs between Falls Road and Rockville Pike. The majority of this 5.75-mile roadway is a two-lane roadway, providing one lane in each direction.

Specifically, the proposed project would run along eastbound Tuckerman Lane, beginning east of Old Georgetown Road and ending at Grosvenor Place.  Along westbound Tuckerman Lane, the proposed project would begin west of Rockville Pike and end at Cedarwood Drive.

Questions and comments may be shared with MCDOT via email at [email protected].
