The Montgomery County Department of Transportation will adjust schedules on 20 Ride On bus routes beginning Sunday, Sept. 6, to improve efficiency, reliability and on-time performance.
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich says the County has recorded 26 fatal traffic crashes so far in 2026, including nine involving pedestrians, as officials continue efforts to reduce speed limits and improve roadway safety through the County’s Vision Zero initiative.
Montgomery County is continuing its effort to slow traffic on local roads, with the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) announcing that speed limits have been reduced on 33 additional roads since July 2025. A video discussing the changes can be seen here.
MCDOT will hold a virtual public hearing at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, to discuss proposed new sidewalks, crosswalks, and other pedestrian improvements around the future Purple Line Manchester Place station in Silver Spring. Residents can register online to attend, provide testimony through Aug. 31, and help shape the final plans for the project. (more…)
