Update on Thursday Night Fire in Montgomery Village

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a fire reported in the bedroom of a two story, middle-of-the-row townhouse on Club Lake Rd in Montgomery Village at approximately 9:30pm on Thursday night (video below). The cause of the fire has been determined to be unattended incense burning which ignited curtains.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, all occupants were able to get out as heavy smoke was showing upon the arrival of multiple crews. A total of 11 people have been displaced, including three occupants from the home where the fire originated, as well two neighbors on one side and six neighbors on the other. Around 80 Montgomery County Firefighters responded to the scene and damage is estimated to be ~$380K.
