According to the National Weather Service (NWS), there is increased confidence in severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds on Monday afternoon. Latest update from the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center (NWSSPC) has brought an Enhanced Risk for severe storms along/east of the I-95 corridor. Per the NWS, we “have multiple ways to get warnings tomorrow.”
The Capital Weather Gang tweeted that there is an “ENHANCED (level 3 out of 5) risk of severe storms in DC area Monday afternoon-evening — not too common. Damaging winds, large hail and a tornado or two cannot be ruled out. Stay weather aware Monday…”
Severe weather is expected to begin between 2pm and 6pm on Monday afternoon for those west of I-95 and between 4pm and 9pm for those east of I-95. Damaging winds in excess of 60mph, which can lead to downed trees and power lines, are expected. Large hail is also possible. Featured photo per the National Weather Service.
