Major Washington Gas Project May Affect Customers in Part of Gaithersburg (Meem’s Addition)

Per the City of Gaithersburg: Major Washington Gas projects taking place either within the City, or that will affect City residents. Impact to gas service will be minimal, but some disruption may occur. Washington Gas will provide a community letter to impacted residents. In the event of a gas emergency please contact the Washington Gas Emergency Call line at 844-927-4427. Temporary parking restrictions may be needed and Washington Gas will provide 48 hour advance notice of any such restrictions or changes in work hours. Washington Gas will restore sidewalks, roadways and landscaping back to their original condition.

A project is currently taking place on: Chestnut Street, Meem Ave and Floral Drive

Part of the Washington Gas STRIDE program includes the installation of 2,460 feet of new gas line, replacing 27 service connections and transferring 15 service connections. This project area will take place within the Meem’s Addition community consisting of Chestnut Street, Meem Ave and Floral Drive. During this project Chestnut Street at Meem Ave may be closed to through way traffic in order for the work to be conducted safely.   The project is scheduled to start in June of 2023.

Washington Gas contractor Northern Pipe Line (NPL) will be conducting the work. Any concerns during and after the project reach out to NPL by emailing [email protected] or call 301-322-3042 and reference BCA/Job#303411.

In May of 2014, the Maryland Public Service Commission approved Washington Gas’ Strategic Infrastructure Development and Enhancement Plan (STRIDE) and Associated Cost Recovery Mechanism. The STRIDE program allows Washington Gas to accelerate replacement of targeted pipes for safety and environmental reasons throughout Maryland.
