Restaurants and Events Coming Soon to Wheaton Mall

Below is a list of businesses and events that are coming soon to Westfield Wheaton Mall at 11160 Veirs Mill Rd.
Wise Guy Pizza:
We first reported in June that coming soon signage was up for Wiseguy Pizza in the Wheaton Mall food court. The restaurant will be located in the space that was previously occupied by Angel’s Pizza.  Wiseguy serves stone-deck oven baked pizza by the slice that’s made with imported ingredients from Italy, homemade sauces, and dough using a special water filtration system. Pizza options include Cheese, Pepperoni, Paneer Tikki (House Masala, Paneer, Mozzarella, Onions, Tomato, Green & Chili Peppers, Cilantro, Jalapeño Sauce), Nashville Hot Chicken, Chicken Parmesan, and Whitestone (Garlic, Ricotta, Mozzarella, Parmigiano, Oregano, Oil from Tuscany Italy.)

Wise Guy currently has four locations across D.C. and Virginia and this will be its first Maryland store.  Thompson Hospitality Group, which is behind restaurants like Matchbox (Bethesda, Rockville, and Silver Spring locations in MoCo), Willie T’s Seafood Shack (Silver Spring), Austin Grill and American Tap Room (both previously in MoCo), acquired all Wiseguy locations in 2022. According to Wiseguy’s website, the restaurant is scheduled to open this summer.

Firehouse Subs:
Firehouse Subs will open its third Montgomery County location when the new restaurant opens in the Wheaton Mall food court. An exact date is not available, but the space is now closed off with Firehouse Subs signage posted while construction begins behind the wall. Firehouse Subs has current MoCo locations in Germantown (19851 Century Blvd) and Rockville (28 Upper Rock Circle).

Firehouse Subs was founded by two former firefighting brothers in Jacksonville, Florida in 1994. Firehouse Subs is all about hearty portions, premium ingredients, and delicious recipes, with a commitment to saving lives through raising funds to support local public safety organizations. To date, more than $80 million has been awarded to first responders and public safety organizations in the U.S. and Canada.

Sarku Japan:
Sarku Japan will be returning to Wheaton Mall, opening in a location just outside of Costco, near the relatively new Sydney’s Burger. Sarku Japan is often found inside of malls and has a mall location in Bethesda’s Montgomery Mall. It’s other MoCo location can be found a standalone store (located within a strip mall rather than in a food court) in the White Oak shopping center. The chain offers made-to-order teppanyaki-style Japanese dishes cooked on sizzling grills as well as a limited amount of sushi rolls.

History of Sarku: “In Japan, lunches are often taken quickly from small stalls where freshness and quality are key. Shops value their reputations very highly. This was the same dedication of our founders when they opened the first Sarku Japan in 1987. The idea was so well received that soon everyone wanted to try our fresh take on Japanese food. We were more than happy to share. Now there are over 250 Sarku Japan restaurants in over 34 states, Puerto Rico and South America. We are the largest and most successful Japanese Quick Service Restaurant in America. Our mission remains the same as it has always been: To share the fresh ways of traditional Japanese cooking with the rest of the world. That’s exactly what you’ll find at every one of our locations: Meals cooked-to-order right in front of you. Fresh flavors. No added MSG. Quick, friendly service. We’re always striving to improve our quality and surprise you with meal choices that enliven your tastebuds. Thank you for sharing this experience with us.”

MCPS Back to School Fair:
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is hosting the 2023 Back to School Fair on Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 10:00AM-1:00PM at Westfield Wheaton Mall.  “All MCPS students and families are invited to kick off the 2023-2024 school year at the MCPS Back-to-School Fair on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Westfield Wheaton mall.
