The Montgomery County community is coming together to support the family of 16-year-old Cephas Nnamdi, a Winston Churchill High School honors student who died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 2. The Montgomery County Planning Board has certified the Fiscal Year 2027 Annual School Test, identifying several Montgomery County Public Schools projected to exceed capacity during the 2030-31 school year and assigning their service areas to Utilization Premium Payment (UPP) tiers beginning July 1, 2026.

After 42 years in Montgomery County Public Schools, longtime educator and basketball coach Dan Harwood has retired from teaching, bringing to a close a career that impacted generations of students across the county. While he is stepping away from the classroom, Harwood says he plans to continue coaching basketball at Magruder High School for another year or two.
