MoCo’s Only Moe’s Southwest Grill Available For Sale

Updated to include a statement from part of the current ownership group

Moe’s Southwest Grill made its triumphant return to MoCo when the fast-casual Mexican restaurant opened in the Wheaton Mall food court in late 2019. In early 2022, a new Moe’s location opened in the recently renovated Montgomery Village Center, around the same time the Wheaton Mall store closed. The Montgomery Village store, now the only Moe’s Southwest Grill location in Montgomery County, is available for sale according to a business listing.

Per the listing, the franchise unit that’s available for sale doesn’t include the real estate, and can be purchased for $325K. “Single Moe’s Southwest Grill franchise unit, real estate not included. Opened Feb’22, all new FF&E, and no deferred maintenance. Great starter opportunity to enter the Moe’s franchise system. Attractive seller financing terms available. List price does not include franchise transfer fee(s). Franchisor approval required for purchase.” Moe’s Southwest Grill is a fast-casual restaurant franchise that serves southwestern food, according to the restaurant. Part of the current ownership group has told us there are no plans to close the location and that the restaurant is “looking for a capital partner to help grow.”

Moe’s was founded in 2000 and based in Atlanta, GA, and has an extensive variety of menu items to from burritos to specialty items like quesadillas, nachos and stacks. Many residents may remember that Moe’s previously had MoCo location at the Potomac Valley shopping center in Gaithersburg until October of 2015, in Rockville Town Square (where Finnegan’s Wake is now located), and in Silver Spring on Tech Rd (where Qdoba is now located). Featured photo courtesy of Google Maps.
