Per MCPD: 38-year-old Samir Haleem Jr. of Germantown and 19-year-old Diego Moreno of Capitol Heights have been arrested and charged with a series of residential burglaries that occurred in August 2023. Detectives have released a photo of Haleem Jr. and Moreno, as well as their vehicle, and are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage to come forward.
Detectives from the 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th Districts Investigative Sections, along with detectives from Gaithersburg Police, collaborated and determined that a series of residential burglaries were committed by the same suspects. The investigation by detectives has revealed that the two suspects posed as workers wearing a reflective vest, forced entry into at least 7 homes, stole property and left the scenes.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Haleem Jr. and Moreno as the suspects. Detectives also determined that Haleem Jr. and Moreno drove a red Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck during the first six residential burglaries and that three out of the seven homes burglarized were occupied.
On Monday, August 21, detectives arrested Haleem Jr. and Moreno in a stolen 2018 Honda Accord at the Tanger Outlets in Prince George’s County. A search of the Honda revealed a privately manufactured firearm, also known as a “ghost gun.” Detectives determined that the Honda was reported stolen during a residential burglary that occurred in Fort Washington, MD.
A search warrant was obtained and executed at a residence in Prince George’s County, where items of evidentiary value were recovered, connecting Haleem Jr. and Moreno to the following seven residential burglaries.
- 14000 block of Rimfire Ct. in Boyds, MD (8/1/2023)
- 12000 block of Greenleaf Ave. in Potomac, MD (8/10/2023)

Haleem Jr. and Moreno were transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where they were charged with first-degree burglary related charges. They are being held without bond.
