Join Montgomery Parks for some not-too-scary Halloween fun this October! From Halloween Eye Spy miniature train rides to Frankenskate roller skate Halloween party, we’re pumpkin spicing things up for Howl-oween. Halloween-themed events in Montgomery Parks include:
Halloween Eye Spy Trains | Saturdays and Sundays during October, starting October 7 | 10 a.m.‒ 6 p.m.: Cabin John Miniature Train, 7410 Tuckerman Lane, Bethesda &Wheaton Miniature Train and Ovid Hazen Wells Carousel, 2002 Shorefield Road, Wheaton. Tickets on sale now! Ride through “Trainsylvania” with your Eye Spy card to look for seasonal objects along the tracks during the ride. Purchase tickets for Cabin John train. Purchase tickets for Wheaton train. A small number of tickets will be available for purchase onsite, but ride times will not be guaranteed. $6.
Spooky Teen to Adult Trivia Night | October 18 | 6 – 7 p.m. Meadowside Nature Center, 5100 Meadowside Lane, Rockville: Gather around the table with family and friends with Quizmaster Jenn as she conducts a spooky nature-themed trivia night. Ages 14 and older. Registration required. Free.
Not so “Scary” Movie Night | October 20 | 6 – 7:30 p.m. Meadowside Nature Center, 5100 Meadowside Lane, Rockville: Put on your pajamas and enjoy a not-so-scary movie night inside the nature center. A snack and craft are included. Ages 7 and older. Registration required. $5.
Spooky Skull Hike | October 22 | 2 – 4 p.m. Maydale Nature Classroom, 1638 Maydale Drive, Colesville: Start your Halloween festivities with a spooky hike. Find the animal skulls hidden in the woods and use clues to identify them. Get a Halloween treat after identifying all the skulls or for wearing a costume. Registration required. Ages 3–12. $2.
Not so Spooky Skate | October 27 | 4:30–6:30 p.m. (Cabin John); 5:30–7 p.m. (Wheaton): Cabin John Ice Rink, 10610 Westlake Drive, Rockville & Wheaton Ice Arena, 11717 Orebaugh Avenue, Wheaton: Celebrate Halloween at this costume ice skate party. Includes costume parade and Halloween crafts and treats. All ages. Registration required. $12.
Frankenskate | October 28 | 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Ridge Road Recreational Park, 21155 Frederick Road, Germantown: Fun Halloween-themed roller skating. BYO skates and costumes. Music, lawn games and treats included. All ages. Free; food and drink available for purchase.
Witchy Paddle | October 28 | 5 – 7:30 p.m. Black Hill Nature Programs, 20926 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds: Dust off your brooms and join us for a costumed paddle of Little Seneca Lake. Must bring your own boat (or paddleboard, kayak or canoe) and appropriate paddle(s) as well as safety gear. Meet at 5 p.m., Witchy Paddle begins at 5:30 p.m. with the campfire at 6:30 p.m. Registration required. Free.
