Farewell Reception for Mayor Newton and Councilmember Feinberg (City of Rockville)

The City of Rockville’s Mayor Bridget Donnell Newton and Councilmember Beryl L. Feinberg will be celebrated at a reception prior to their last Mayor and Council meeting from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Rockville City Hall to thank them for their years of service

More on Bridget Newton, per the City of Rockville: The City of Rockville is the third largest city in Maryland and the county seat for Montgomery County. Serving as Mayor since 2013, Bridget Donnell Newton is a 38-year resident of the city and calls Rockville “a small town in a big city.” Newton currently serves as the council liaison to the Recreation and Park Advisory Board and Rockville Seniors, Inc., and sits on the board of directors for the Maryland Municipal League, Rockville Economic Development, Inc., the Washington Metropolitan Area Council of Governments and the National Capital Regional Transportation Planning Board.

In December 2017, Newton was elected to a one-year term as the chair of TPB. In June 2018, she was unanimously elected president of MML, the statewide organization advocating on behalf of Maryland’s 157 cities and towns. She is the sixth president from the City of Rockville to lead the organization since its founding in 1936.

Elected first in 2013 and then re-elected in 2015 and 2019, Beryl L. Feinberg is serving her third term on the Rockville City Council.

More on Beryl Feinberg, per the City of Rockville: During her six years on the council, she served as council liaison to the Human Services Advisory Commission, Recreation and Park Advisory Board, Sign Review Board, Rockville Sister Cities Corporation the Financial Advisory Board and as a member of the city’s Retirement Board.

While in office, Feinberg demonstrated her expertise in policy analysis, fiscally responsible budgeting, procurement reforms, inclusionary hiring practices, and balancing the need for economic growth with school capacity. She launched the opioid prevention program, strengthened emergency preparedness, and championed neighborhood concerns.

Following an appointment by the Maryland Municipal League to the Homeland Emergency Preparedness Ad Hoc Committee in 2018, she now chairs this working committee. MML represents and advocates for Maryland’s 157 towns and cities.

Prior to her election, Feinberg served on Rockville’s Board of Supervisors of Elections, the city’s Budget and Finance Task Force and the Rockville Summit on Economic Development. She attended the Rockville University program, where she learned more about our city’s services, parks and government.
