City of Gaithersburg Unofficial Results for Nov. 7th Election

Per the City of Gaithersburg: Unofficial results for the November 7, 2023, municipal election for three City Council Members have been announced:

The top three candidates with the highest number of votes were Neil Harris, who received 2,900 votes (24.57%), Yamil Hernández, who received 2,189 votes (18.55%), and Robert T. Wu, who received 2,932 votes (24.84%).

Daniel Lukomsky received 885 votes (7.50%), Shanika Whitehurst received 2,072 votes (17.56%), and Omodamola Williams received 824votes (6.98%).

Mail-in ballots must have been deposited in ballot drop boxes or postmarked by November 7. Same-day voter registration was available for in-person voting, with voters casting provisional ballots pending approval. The Board of Supervisors of Elections will review mail-in and provisional ballots on November 14. Official results will be announced on November 15.

Once certified, the newly elected officials will be sworn in at a Special Session of the Mayor & City Council on Monday, November 20, at 7:30 p.m. They will each serve a four-year term. The meeting can be viewed live on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter @GburgMD, and can be watched via Zoom with pre-registration here. The Meeting will also air live on the City’s cable TV channels, available countywide on Comcast 27, and within City limits on RCN 13 and Verizon FiOS 25.

As of November 7, 4,200 ballots were cast, 2,567 of them by mail and 1,633 at the polls. There are 37,113 registered voters in the City of Gaithersburg, for a preliminary voter turnout of 11.32%. Voter turnout in the 2021 City Election for Mayor and two City Council members was 12.45%.
