Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a vehicle fire involving a school bus shortly after 8am on Tuesday morning on Middlebrook Rd. at I-270 under a bridge, according to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer.
According to an update by Piringer, the bus had 11 passengers/students on board but there was no fire evident upon the arrival of multiple crews that responded to the scene. The apparent cause was the bus overheating, which led to smoke but no actual fire. In a 9:15am update, it was stated that “School board, principal, and back-up bus on scene to transport kids to school” and no fire and rescue services were needed.
