Five-Night Comedy Festival Returns to Maryland in 2024


Improbable Comedy, the small but mighty Silver Spring-based comedy production company continues its mission to present quality comedy shows, bringing people together to support wonderfully diverse comedy lineups. “SPRUNG! Comedy Festival” a 5-night comedy festival format returns February 7-11, 2024 to the Black Box Theatre in Downtown Silver Spring with five nights of themed comedy shows.

“SPRUNG! Comedy Festival” is a celebration of community and comedy, giving audiences in the DMV access to national touring headliners and local named comic talent. For lots of laughs, this is worth marking your calendars! Ticket prices are $25.00 general admission to a single show. Improbable Comedy announces a special ticket purchase incentive for Black Friday 2023: a portion of the ticket sales from the “MOTHER of All Comedy Shows” will be donated to the organization; A Wider Circle, as part of their “Giving November” Initiative.

Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 7PM, Improbable Comedy presents: The “MOTHER of All Comedy Shows.” This signature presentation of Improbable Comedy highlights a lineup of local women and non-binary performers. This is comedy by women and funny for everyone so you’ll want to be there for the opening night show. Dana Fleitman (Grassroots Comedy), Demi Chang, Jenny Cavallero and Liz Barlow round out your female- first comedy lineup for this very funny show. Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 7PM, Improbable Comedy presents: “The Originals: All Native Comedy” show. Locally known Apache comedian Gigi Modrich emcees the lineup of Native comedians, including Shea Vasser, Jamar Hall, Ixchel, and Adrianne Chalepah (Netflix: “Spirit Rangers;” Peacock: “Rutherford Falls;” FX: “Reservation Dogs”) This show will be followed by a Q & A with the artists. Friday, February 9, 2024, at 7PM, Improbable Comedy presents: “Mic Divas” from the Black Women in Comedy Festival. “Mic Divas” is a comedy showcase where hilarious black women deliver bright, emotional and non- stop funny punchlines. Audiences were enraptured with this show during the last Improbable Comedy Presentation (February 2023), with tickets quickly selling out. Five strong black women; Joanna Briley, Elizabeth Booker Houston, Nikkie Knowles, Algiers Diamond, and Patrice DeVeaux command the audience for a night that will be unapologetically funny. Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 7PM, Improbable Comedy presents, “Comedy as a Second Language;” an interactive stand-up comedy show featuring immigrant performer lineups. “Comedy as a Second Language” returns for its second year at “SPRUNG! Comedy Festival” This very funny comedy show translates well to audiences of all genres and backgrounds, making it one of the foundational shows for Improbable Comedy and a year-round audience favorite.
