Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision involving a trash truck on Wednesday, November 22 around 12:30pm.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, an overturned trash truck on the innerloop ramp from I495 to northbound Georgia Ave has sent three patients to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Hazmat is currently on the scene assisting due to leaking fuel from the truck.

The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security tweeted the following at 1:30pm: “Traffic incident closes the NB ramp from Georgia Avenue (MD-97) onto the I-495 Inner Loop. Additionally, the NB right lane is blocked on Georgia Avenue (MD-97) at I-495. Expect significant delays. Seek alternate route. #MDTraffic” We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.
