Yesterday we reported that Montgomery County Police responded to an attempted carjacking on Sunday, November 26, at approximately 11:55pm.

The incident occurred on Wisconsin Ave, between Waverley St and Montgomery Ave in Bethesda. According to police, “Two male suspects approached an adult male victim and demanded his car keys. They took the keys, but weren’t able to drive the car, and the suspects left. The victim ran away and heard a shot fired, but officers were not able to locate any shell casings.”

FOX5’s Stephanie Ramirez reports that the suspects followed the victim from DC into Bethesda, where they pistol whipped him as they attempted to steal his car. The suspects fled the scene after realizing the vehicle they were attempting to carjack was a stick shift. The victim is Myo Maung, who owns Zao Stamina Ramen at 7345 Wisconsin Ave, in Bethesda. He also told police he heard at least one gunshot as the suspects were fleeing.

Maung told FOX5, “”I got shocked, excited. Now, I’m okay. Guys stealing, the hijacking, it’s too much – we are not safe, I feel like. That’s why, people, I want to say ‘just, be careful.'”

Councilmember Andrew Friedson has commented on the assault and attempted carjacking, stating the following via X: “I’ve been in contact with @2dCommander following this very concerning incident. Very relieved no one was killed or seriously injured and appreciate the ongoing efforts of @mcpnews who are actively investigating. I’m hoping those responsible will be identified and charged ASAP.”
