MCPS Athletics and the NCAA Eligibility Center Are Hosting a Virtual Information Night

Calling all coaches, students and parents/caregivers of student athletes: MCPS Athletics and the NCAA Eligibility Center are hosting a virtual information night from 6:30-8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4.

Ivorye Long, assistant director of outreach and strategic partnerships for the NCAA Eligibility Center, will host the Zoom session. Long is a former high school teacher and track and field coach. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Indianapolis, where she was a two-sport student-athlete in track and field, and soccer. Long hopes that her passion of supporting student-athletes as they go through the process of NCAA initial eligibility will inspire students to pursue academics and athletics at the collegiate level.

About Ms. Long– Ms. Ivorye Long is an Assistant Director of Outreach and Strategic Partnerships with the NCAA Eligibility Center. Before joining the NCAA, Ms. Long was a high school teacher for 12 years and has coached track and field for the past 15 years. Ms. Long earned both a bachelor’s (Computer Information Systems) and master’s degree (Sports Management) from the University of Indianapolis where she also was a two- sport student- athlete competing in both women’s track and field and women’s soccer. Ivorye hopes that her experience as a former NCAA student-athlete and educator paired with her passion to support student-athletes as they go through the process of NCAA initial eligibility will impact and inspire the upcoming generation as they pursue their dream of continuing their academic and athletic career at the collegiate level.
