
Good Counsel football has ended their football season ranked first in the area in the Washington Post’s final football rankings after 10 consecutive victories, concluding with a big 7-0 victory over DeMatha on November 21st to win the WCAC Championship.
The team’s season started with a loss to St. Edward’s in a nationally televised game on ESPN. The Falcons bounced back the following week and never looked back, with only two competitive games the remainder of the season (both seven point wins against DeMatha), as they won 10 straight.
Also ranked in the Washington Post’s Top 20 was Georgetown Prep (8-2) at #16, “The North Bethesda program was at its best in close games as it won a share of the IAC title.” Quince Orchard (9-1) at #17, “Though the Cougars’ area-best 39-game winning streak ended in an early playoff exit, they remained one of Maryland’s fiercest teams”, and Churchill (10-2) at #20, “The Bulldogs’ commanding running game lifted them to the Maryland 4A semifinals.”
