The Washington Post’s Tim Carman has put together a list of his ten favorite casual restaurants in the DC area and two Montgomery County eateries have been included on the list.

Coming in at #7 is Rockville’s Bao Bei, located at 11910 Parklawn Dr. #O. Bao Bei specializes in authentic Taiwanese cuisine that is available for pick-up and delivery through a ghost kitchen that is owned and operated by Gaithersburg native, Kevin Hsieh.

“The past few years I’ve attended food festivals and private events, but recently opened for pick-up and delivery (UberEats, DoorDash, Grubhub) at a ghost kitchen located in North Bethesda.” Hsieh told us when he opened. “I’m excited to finally share it with our local community.”

The restaurant currently offers a menu that consists of Baos, Rice bowls and side dishes with our signature item being the Pork Belly Bao. Slow-braised pork belly inside fluffy handmade buns. “We do everything handmade, so you can really feel the authenticity and craft behind the food you consume. If you’ve never tried this before you are MISSING OUT.”

#5 on the list is the restaurant that was also recently named the “Best Burger in the DMV” by Carman- Steeze Burger. Steeze Burger is a traveling burger stand owned and operated by Laytonsville resident Hunter Karametos.

He started the pop-up burger business in 2022 after spending the better part of a year consuming over 150 different burgers for research. Their schedule is released via social media.
