Last month we let you know that Sprouts, the first business that was announced as part of the renovated Burtonsville Crossing shopping center, set a tentative opening date. That date has now been confirmed.
Sprouts has posted signage at the upcoming store stating that it will be opening on Friday, January 19th, a little bit later than the previously anticipated November date. Sprouts was the first to sign a lease for the renovated Burtonsville Crossing and will be opening the grocery chain’s first Montgomery County location in the shopping center.
When opening new stores. Sprouts often hosts a “pop-up party” in front of the store that gives guests the chance to taste seasonal produce from the tasting bar, play games, have their face painted, watch artists carve large produce, participate in a special “guess the weight” contest of an oversized piece of produce and more. The family-friendly activities generally last for the whole weekend. When the grand opening date is officially announced, any activities or celebrations coinciding with it will be confirmed.
Earlier this year, EDENS received a $3.5 million grant towards the renovations of the shopping center. The District 14 Legislative Delegation, consisting of Senator Craig J. Zucker, Delegates Anne Kaiser, Bernice Mireku-North, and Pamela Queen, requested that the funding be secured after hearing the community’s visions for the future of the space.
