Watkins Mill High School students Jabea Ewane, Steven Santiago and Thomas Pettit won the top prize and fan favorite vote for their PSA video contest entry, Forever 16.
The Speak Up, Save a Life Video Contest, organized by the State Attorney’s Office in collaboration with MCPS, urged students to craft original videos addressing the dangers of illicit opioids, particularly fentanyl, and the risk of overdose.
Second and third place were secured by Elessar Issenberg of Northwood High School and Jasper Chen of Thomas W. Pyle Middle School. Winners were revealed at the inaugural Save a Student Summit, spearheaded by the Student Leadership and Extracurricular Activities department.
The contest’s cash prizes, contributed by The Magnolia Companies, honored the memory of Michael Pisarra and Matthew Loudon, two Montgomery County residents lost to fentanyl.
