
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire at the Arrive Silver Spring apartments in 8750blk of Georgia Ave. on Saturday, December 30.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the fire was located in an unoccupied/vacant apartment on the 9th floor that was under renovation. The fire has been extinguished and evacuated residents are now being re-occupied. There were no injuries reported.
According to the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, “Fire department activity closes all southbound lanes on Georgia Avenue (MD-97) between Spring Street and Fenwick Lane. Expect significant delays. Seek alternate route.”
