Doug Kammerer on Potential For Snow January 6th/7th: “You REALLY Need to Watch it”

The National Weather Service (NWS) has labeled January 6th and 7th as a “Slight Winter Storm Threat” for the possibility of wintry weather during the time frame for parts of the DMV, including half of Montgomery County. NBC 4 Meteorologist Doug Kammerer has stated that we “REALLY need to watch” the potential for snow on those days.

“I mentioned last week that we will have to watch the 6th and 7th and the latest American model says, oh yes, you REALLY need to watch it. Could we see our first really good #SNOW? You know I’m all over it. Stay tuned” Kammerer said via X on Saturday night.

At this point, this remains nothing more than something to watch. If you’re from the area you know things can change every few hours, especially when something is a week away. Based on several models, it appears a storm is heading in our general direction, but some have the wintry stuff missing us a bit to the north. If things trend a bit south then we can see a pretty big storm, and that’s why it’s worth watching.

The National Weather Service has some of the area under a “slight risk” because of how far away it is. So we’ll keep an eye on things and provide you with updates.
