How Much Snow? National Weather Service Releases ‘First Call’ Maps

Courtesy of the National Weather Service

The National Weather Service (NWS) has released its ‘First Call’ maps for Saturday’s winter storms (seen above, courtesy of FOX5’s Mike Thomas) and right now it consists of two different maps- one for Saturday 7am until 1pm and one for Saturday 1pm until 7pm.

For the first part of Saturday, the NWS is expecting nearly half an inch in DC as the snow comes to town as far down as Southern Maryland. In the southern areas, it’s expected to changeover in the afternoon so you likely won’t see much more snow. In most of Montgomery County, Frederick County, Loudoun County, and Howard County, you can add an additional half an inch to two inches.

So how much does it say we’re getting? According to these maps, the following is expected for these areas (this will likely be washed away in most areas):

DC – approximately 0.4″

Bethesda/Silver Spring, MD – approximately .5″

Gaithersburg, MD – approximately 2.0″

Leesburg, VA – approximately 2.4″

Damascus, MD – approximately 2.5″

Frederick, MD – approximately 2.7″

Winchester, VA – approximately 4.8″

Hagerstown, MD – approximately 4.8″

This is likely to change again tomorrow and we’ll keep you updated with the latest maps from the NWS and local networks.
