TGI Fridays announced that it will close 36 underperforming locations in select markets across the U.S., which includes six stores in/around the DMV area. The chain also sold eight corporate-owned restaurants in the Northeast (in MA and NH) to former CEO Ray Blanchette.

The two Montgomery County locations in Rockville and White Oak/Fairland will remain open, as they were not mentioned in the press release and continue to operate normally. As part of the store closures, TGI Fridays is offering more than 1,000 transfer opportunities, which represents over 80% of total impacted employees.
