Montgomery County Man Arrested For Shooting at Vehicle in Frederick

On January 8, 2024, at approximately 8:25 a.m., the Frederick Police Department responded to a reported firearm discharge in the vicinity of N. Market Street and W. 7th Street.

According to Frederick Police, “Upon arrival, FPD officers with Patrol Squad A, encountered a victim who was able to point out the suspect, later identified as Daniel J. Carroll (DOB-02/20/1989) of Silver Spring, MD.

According to the victim, Carroll approached them as they were parking their vehicle in a nearby parking lot. Allegedly, Carroll, after accosting the victim, discharged a handgun at their vehicle. Upon conducting a search incident to arrest, officers recovered a loaded revolver and a suspected Controlled Dangerous Substance (excluding marijuana) from Carroll’s possession.

Following the incident, Carroll was transported to Frederick Health Hospital for medical clearance and subsequently transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing.”

Officer G. Smith, charged Carroll with the following offenses:

Assault 1st Degree
Loaded Handgun on Person
Discharge Firearm in City Limits
Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance (Not Marijuana)
Firearm Illegal Possession-Felon
Illegal Possession of Ammunition-Felon
Reckless Endangerment
Et al.
