The National Weather Service (NWS) has us in the “Slight Winter Storm Threat” category for Friday, January 19th.
A similar winter storm to what we just experienced is headed our way late Thursday into Friday. It’s similar in that the temperatures will be cold and that it currently looks like a light snow event. Yesterday’s storm overachieved and dropped a couple inches more than expected for most. Based on recent model runs, this one is light- bringing anywhere from a dusting/half inch to three inches for the area.
We’ll continue to monitor and keep you updated on any changes whichever way it goes. We’ll also monitor conditions throughout the day and provide a “Pencil Prediction” for schools if it’s necessary later today (for Wednesday, January 17th). Below you’ll see WUSA9’s Jonathan Myers’ post on the potential Friday storm.
European and American (GFS) Computer Model call for yet another round of #snow late Thursday into Friday. Computer model output has come down to an inch or two, at worst, but the timing is poor with impacts again potentially during the morning rush hour. #WUSA9Weather @wusa9 pic.twitter.com/TfZvVFCFHE
