The National Weather Service (NWS) has increased the amount of snow it expects for most areas in its latest “Expected Snowfall” map for this upcoming Friday, January 19th.

FOX5’s Tucker Barnes stated that the snow storm “Arrives around sunrise on Friday and with us through late afternoon. Doesn’t look like a major snow (about 1-3″) but will be cold enough to stick to roadways.”

Currently some models have between 2-4 inches for some of the area, and things should get a little clearer this evening. With snow expected to start before sunrise and continue through the morning, this could be very impactful to Friday. The map below shows the % chance for over 2 inches of snow for various parts of the area. Areas like DC and bordering areas of Montgomery County are at 39% while the rest of Montgomery, Howard, and Frederick are above 50%. We’ll continue to provide updates as new information comes in.
