Traffic Alert: SHA To Make Repairs to 355 Bridge Over Outer Loop of I-495 Starting Wednesday

Motorists Can Expect Night Double-Lane Closures for Two Evenings

The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration will make repairs to the MD 355 (Rockville Pike) bridge over the outer loop of  I-495 (Capital Beltway) beginning on January 24 near Bethesda. The repairs should be complete by Friday, January 26, weather permitting.

Crews will close two right lanes on January 24 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Thursday and two left lanes at 9 p.m. on Thursday, January 25 until 5 a.m. on Friday, January 26. Drivers should expect delays and add extra driving time during the repair project.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, F.O. Day of Gaithersburg, will use arrow boards and barrels to safely guide motorists through the work zone.

The State Highway Administration appreciates our customers’ patience with lane closures while we complete this necessary work to maintain and improve the transportation system. Drivers are asked to slow down in the work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve our roadways.
